AUSTOUCH AT SOUTHERN TOUCH
What is AusTouch?
Touch Football Australia's (TFA) TSPGP focuses on a program called ‘AusTouch’, which is intended to bridge the gap between school and social participation into a structured community based sporting environment.
AusTouch is as simple as introducing kids to the basics of Touch Footy in a fun and progressive program, which builds on the skills, concepts and rules over the sessions.
AusTouch is designed to be suitable for kids that have had limited or no past involvement in Touch Footy, it can also be used to increase the skill level of older participants or for some of our youngest Touch participants those 5 – 8 year old kids.
Like many other sports, this program is the first step that a child can take to begin participating in Touch Football.
The great thing about AusTouch is its inclusive and supportive characteristics.
- Participant- The activities are designed to be fun, everyone participants and activities are challenging and can have elements of competitiveness.
- Parent- Kids are coached by people who are trained to be an AusTouch Leader, meaning that they are taught how to teach, include everyone, ensure activities suit the skill level of participants, assess and challenge skill development and have background knowledge on areas such as bullying and child protection. The program is also a full affiliated program meaning it has the insurance and legal support structures and policies for member protection.
- AusTouch Centre- Full accreditation and sanctioned program, with all the backing of Touch Football Australia (TFA) that includes support of Game Development staff, resources and equipment.
Included in the program cost for all participates is an AusTouch Kit. The kits currently include an AusTouch Ball, AusTouch Hat, AusTouch Water Bottle and then a participation Certificate.
